Objetivo:

Este curso te ayudará a alcanzar un nivel de inglés intermedio alto (B2), obteniendo el vocabulario, los conocimientos, y las capacidades para abordar el examen de B2 First de Cambridge.

Así mismo, mejorarás tu conocimiento de los errores más típicos que cometen los estudiantes de inglés como segunda lengua, de tal forma que los podrás evitar tanto en conversación como en el examen.

Por último, te familiarizarás con el formato del examen B2 First, a fin de comprender qué has de hacer en él, además de identificar las áreas que tienes que reforzar para conseguir más puntuación.

This course you will help you to raise your English level to a B2 (upper-intermediate) level, obtaining the necessary vocabulary, knowledge and skills in order to pass the B2 First Cambridge English exam.

In addition, you will have a better understanding of the typical mistakes made by learners of English as a second language, allowing you to avoid making these errors in your own English- in both a conversational and exam setting.

Lastly, you will familiarise yourself with the format of the B2 First exam, and better understand what is expected of you in order to get a good mark.

This  course is of particular interest for those who need to pass the B2 First Cambridge exam, although it can also be of great benefit for anyone who wants to reach an upper-intermediate level of English.

Requisitos:

Es muy recomendable que el alumno tenga un nivel mínimo de inglés intermedio, dado que sin este nivel será muy difícil seguir los temas del curso. No obstante, no es necesario poseer conocimientos previos sobre el examen B2 First, ya que esto se estudiará a lo largo del curso.

It is recommendable to have a prior knowledge of English up to a pre-intermediate (B1/B1+) level, so as to be able to understand the language used and studied in the course . That said, a prior knowledge of the B2 First exam is not needed, as this will be studied in detail throughout the course.

1.- Hobbies and free time: Part 1

Objetivo

Vocabulary focus: Hobbies and free time collocations

After completing this unit, students will better understand and use the most important collocations related to the topic of hobbies and free time, demonstrating a broader knowledge of expressions and collocations commonly used in the Speaking test and Part 4 of the Use of English paper.

Language focus: Expressing likes, dislikes and preferences

By the end of the students will have gained a deeper understanding of the differences between different expressions of preference, therefore improving written and oral communication. This will allow students to better express themselves in Part 4 of the Reading and Use of English paper, the Writing paper and the Speaking test.

They will also be better equipped to avoid the most typical mistakes made by candidates in the exam when using this language point.

  • understand what is expected of them, studying the most typical questions asked in this part of the test.
  • be more prepared to extend their own answers in Parts 1,3 and 4 of the test, thus satisfying one of the four marking criteria (Discourse Management) used by examiners in the Speaking test.
  • better understand what to do and what not to do in this part of the test.
  • be more capable of expressing their likes and preferences.
  • be able to organise their ideas and answers more effectively.

Part 2: Long turn

Students will:

  • study the format of Part 2 of the speaking exam.
  • understand what is expected of them, studying sample questions from previous exams.
  • be more prepared to speculate in this part of the test.
  • be armed with useful phrases to organise their long turn.
